Field Study Opportunities

O2E are privileged to meet many people from around the world and many ask for our help.  Initiatives range from small requests to year long projects. Some opportunities require experience and expertise while others just require enthusiasm and a love for animals. If you feel you would like to complete any of these field studies, we would love to hear from you.

O2E would like to support any students looking to undertake their own field study project so please contact us if you have an opportunity you would like to discuss.

Fire Brickette Program - Project Manager

Location Status
Kwale, East Kenya Vacant

Description

A study done by O2E in 2011 revealed that 93% of community members ventured into the nearby forest where elephants roam wild to gather firewood.  Sadly, this has resulted in several human deaths. Working in conjunction with this elephant community and a youth group, we require a project manager to facilitate the manufacture of a fire briquette machine.  The machine is capable of producing paper bricks that the community would use for heating and cooking. By sourcing recycled materials such as newspaper and sawdust to make the bricks, the success of this project would reduce or eliminate potentially fatal trips into the forest for firewood.

Volunteer Program Set Up- Sanctuary

Location Status
Playa Del Carmen, Mexico Vacant

Description

O2E requires an experienced volunteer coordinator to set up a volunteer program at a wildlife sanctuary. The current workload is overwhelming for the owners of the sanctuary who care for over 40 animals.  The sanctuary is in need of assistance and hope to receive volunteers once a program has been developed. The volunteer program would need to be developed from planning through to all logistics and implementation.
